Thingiverse is the wonderful little underdog of a website that we run as part of MakerBot Industries. While CupCake CNC gets all the glamour, Thingiverse does all the heavy lifting in this little revolution we’re starting. Well, its about to do quite a bit more lifting as we’ve just upgraded it with a major new system: parts listing and inventory tracking. Yup, now anyone can list the exact parts and quantities needed to build a thing in a structured way. You can also track your own personal inventory of things which is super handy.
Why did we build this? Mostly because we needed it, but also because we the problems that people deal with daily when working with open source hardware designs. Creating lists of parts that are actually useful to other people is a very important thing to do, and often it can be rather difficult to do right. We’re not the only ones struggling with it, and we’re hoping that the tool we built for us will be useful for other people.
Not only is the part listing a problem that we deal with, but now that we are manufacturing robots in fairly large quantities. Keeping track of what parts we actually have in stock is the flipside problem to listing what parts are actually needed to build something. By creating an integrated system to both keep track of what parts are needed to build something as well as what parts you actually have it should streamline things for us as well as hopefully benefit the community at large.
If you want to read more about the features and such, head over to the Thingiverse Blog or just check out the actual parts nebula directly.

We just did a massive inventory and we can make Batch 7 bigger and we’ve put them back in stock! We just added 17 MakerBot Industries Cupcake CNC Deluxe Kits and 15 MakerBot Industries Cupcake CNC Basic Kits to the MakerBot Store. Batch 7 is set to ship on October 5th.
With batch 5 we sold 15 in the first 24 hours and with batch 6 we sold 24 in the the first 24 hours that they were up for sale.
If you’ve been waiting to get one, here’s your chance!

ReplicatorG 0007 and the v1.3 firmware are now available for Mac, Windows, and Linux! As usual, you can download the latest version from our Google Code site:
To make the most of 0007, you’ll want to install the new firmware, as well. Please note that we’re now hosting the firmware at the Makerbot Google Code site, instead of the RepRap site:
Details, and a changelog, are below.

We’ve been printing tons of pulleys recently and have started to notice that little delays, like waiting for the test extrusion, really start to add up.
Some very quick GCode modifications can seriously up the production capabilities of your MakerBot. All of the sudden pulleys that would take 20 minutes pop out in 15. Checkout the write up on the wiki and start pushing your bot to the production extremes!

I heard you like front pages so I put a front page on your front page. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

We’ve just put a LOT of MakerBot .5mm nozzles up in the store. These things are wonderful objects of practical beauty made for us by Najet.com, the same people who will drill a hole in a human hair and then thread a wire through it, for fun.
If you’ve knocked your nozzle and deformed the tube, or just want a new bright and shiny nozzle, now is the time to buy one in the MakerBot store.

These extrusion nozzles are beautiful precision objects. We have 500 in stock and have 400 more in waiting on the shelf for future batches of MakerBots. They are high quality nozzles made from brass and tapped to M6, with a 0.500mm nozzle.
We’re open as can be and this nozzle is published on Thingiverse. So you can check it out.
Ok, now that you’ve given it the once over and stopped drooling, go get one!

This morning I had to go pick up my MakerBot from NYCResistor and bring it over to the BotCave for our Office Hours event tonight. I threw it on the handlebars and rode over.
Don’t try this at home. Even though this worked for me, upon arriving at my destination, I realized that if I had one emergency stop, the machine could have gone over the handlebars into oncoming traffic and even though I biked slow, it hampered my steering. What I really need to transport my MakerBot safely is a rack on the back, but modified for MakerBots. Hmm, maybe I can modify the bike mounts (1, 2)that have been showing up on Thingiverse!

Here we go! Batch 7 is for sale!
With every batch, we increase our batch size with the idea that we’ll sell a good chunk of the batch and then have some left over to have in stock. This has never happened because we always sell out before the end of the month!
We’re stepping it up again. Batch 6 (sold out) is planned to ship out on September 3rd and Batch 7 is planned to ship on October 5th, so if you’ve been waiting to get a MakerBot Cupcake CNC, now is the time to order to get yours shipped to you in October. We didn’t tell anyone that batch 7 was for sale and in 3 hours 3 MakerBots have sold. Now that the word is out, get yours while the getting is good!
There are a few options for making your own MakerBot Cupcake CNC. You can buy the Basic kit or the Deluxe kit. If you’ve got a power supply and the tools, you’ll want the Basic kit and just go over the list and order the things you don’t have already. If you want to set yourself up with a MakerBot and get all the tools with it, you’ll want to get the Deluxe kit kit.
The biggest upgrade ever arrived with Batch 5 and continues with Batch 7. All the electronics come pre-assembled!

100 Boxes for Batch 6 and 7!
